What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a regulated and degree-based healthcare profession. Physiotherapists use their knowledge and skills to improve a range of conditions associated with different systems of the body. Physiotherapy is a science-based profession and takes a ‘whole person’ approach to health and wellbeing, which includes the patient’s general lifestyle.
Physiotherapists help people affected by injury, illness or disability. We assess and treat patients via a combination of movement and exercise therapy, manual therapy, education and advice.
At the core of physiotherapy is the patient’s involvement in their own care, through education, awareness, empowerment and participation in their treatment.
The profession helps to encourage development and facilitate recovery, enabling people to stay in work and undertaking their hobbies, while helping them remain independent for as long as possible through later life.
Chartered physiotherapists are regulated and have to maintain standards set by the HCPC, the ‘Health & Care Professions Council’. Both Anthony and Amy are registered with the HCPC and also the CSP (Chartered society of physiotherapists).
